Based on the initial discussion from TEAM’s strategic planning session, several themes emerged. These guiding principles helped to direct and focus the strategic work of the TEAM organization.
- TEAM is a leading advocate for locally driven workforce development issues.
- TEAM is committed to improving the capacity of the system to deliver the best workforce development services possible
- TEAM members are committed to providing leadership at the local, state, and national levels.
- TEAM members are committed to support one another in their roles as local system builders.
- TEAM members are committed to strengthening the economic climate of their individual communities and the State of Missouri.
- TEAM will foster partnerships and promote unity within and across regions.
Additionally, the TEAM crafted new mission and vision statements. These statements, based on the guiding principles above, will help the organization align its strategic positioning with their goals and help direct the execution of its scope of work.
Recent federal and state legislation acknowledges that workforce development and economic development are first and foremost local issues. Although there are similarities, no two regions in the state are the same. For that reason, the workforce development system is intended to maximize local control. The TEAM also considers workforce development to be primarily a local issue and recognizes the roll and responsibility of the local WIBs and CLEOs in identifying local workforce, economic and community needs; marshalling resources to address those needs; building the capacity of local service providers to deliver quality products and services; and advocating for continued local control and decision making.
This strategic plan identifies the key issues and goals the TEAM has developed to chart its course in building the capacity to provide quality services, and to advocate for local input and control that legislators envisioned as necessary for the economic prosperity and growth of local regions.
